Rebel Desk is reimagining the way that we work. You don’t have to be stuck in a chair. You don’t have to feel like you want a nap at 3 pm. You don’t have to gain weight just because you have a desk job. You can work at a standing desk or a walking desk. You can feel energized and more productive, while burning calories and engaging your muscles. We love taking the accepted and rethinking how it can be done.
We saw this same drive to reimagine when we first heard about Hackfit, a startup competition that reimagines the typical hackathon. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to be part of Hackfit– an event that brings developers, designers, and entrepreneurs of health, fitness, & digital sports technology together for one incredible weekend at venues all over the country.
What is a hackathon, you might be asking? It is an intense collaboration between coders, programmers, devleopers, and others to solve certain problems or create certain products in a short time period. Hackathons were notorious for being 48 hours stuck in chairs, hunched over computers, gorging on pizza and guzzling energy drinks.
Jusitn Mednelson, Hackfit’s founder, participated in these hackathons. And then he reimagined a better way to do them. Hackfit was born. Hackfit works on bringing a weekend “full of brainstorming, prototyping, rock
climbing, yoga, and CrossFit” says Mendelson. Encouraging the many attendees of Hackfit to showcase their talents and balance it with health and wellness, this event inspires start-ups to shift stereotypes of unhealthy workspaces to a picture of well-being, health, and vitality. Multiple workshops will segment team building, programming, and a healthy approach to working hard.
Rebel Desk was invited to have its standing desks and treadmill desks to be a part of Hackfit and we can’t wait to be part of it. Hackfit attendees can keep their mental juices flowing by working on their feet rather than in their seat. Productivity and creativity is essential to an incredible Hackfit experience, and Rebel Desk’s crank-up desk and walking treadmill foster both.
